Overwhelm or Clarity, Which Are You Choosing?
Feeling overwhelmed? Like there's never enough hours in the day to get everything done you need to get done? At work you're trying to get new clients, serving current clients, chasing payments, networking, using or getting to grips with social media. And if it's not work, it's the children, it's the shopping, it's your house, your partner, your friend, your mum, the dog, the babysitter, and so on and so on and so on!!!
No wonder as women we get tired or stressed. We've collectively bought into the job description of Superwoman, but Superwoman by her very nature is not like us, she's super human and it's impossible for us to live up to this ideal.
But that doesn't stop us trying! We try to push through, we struggle or fight, we persist and try to stay determined, or we just pretend everything's fine.
But when we do this we have to deal with the consequences. Consequences I've suffered from myself, and consequences I see women grappling with everyday e.g. always feeling the need for more - more money, more clients, or relationships; spending lots of money in your business for little or no return; or being at the point of burning out or giving up.
If this is you then don't despair because truthfully, overwhelm is not about a lack of time. It's about a lack of productivity, which comes from trying to do too much, from doing the important AND the unimportant things. From underestimating how much time these will take, and the emotional, physical or mental toll these will take on you. And in my opinion all of these stem from a lack of clarity.
So what might you be unclear about?
1. Who you are and who you want to be going forward
Tip - Make some notes about how you're showing up in the world now and how you really want to be showing up. Consider how aligned these are at the moment, and how to bring them into alignment so that you're fully authentic.
2. What you want for your life and for your business.
Tip - Most of us focus on actions - the things we want to do -rather than whether or why they're worth doing. Consider what you want for your life and business, and whether your current actions fit with this. If not, put your focus on what does.
3. Your priorities and where to put your focus now.
Tip - This comes from the answers to the first 2 questions above. It does not come from copying what others do, or from what you think you should do, or from trying to do everything, but rather from what you choose for yourself, your business and your life.
It's important to recognise that if you're feeling a sense of overwhelm, at some level - actually at the unconscious level you are choosing this (or more likely you're choosing not to do what it takes to get clear!) But now that you are aware of this you can consciously choose clarity.
Because when you get clear you'll feel a huge sense of relief; you'll know what to ditch, what to delegate and what to do yourself on a daily basis to reach your goals. And aligning your conscious and your unconscious mind creates an inner knowing and feeling that gives you a buzz, it energises you, and gives you confidence and motivation - all of which will dispel your feelings of overwhelm once and for all!
