How to Remove Tape Stains on Art Work
- 1). Choose a limonene- or petroleum-based adhesive solvent intended for common household surfaces. You can safely apply these stain removers to paper, fabrics and painted surfaces, to name a few uses.
- 2). Pour or spray a small amount of the product onto a cotton ball. Apply just enough to dampen the cotton ball without soaking it.
- 3). Lay the piece of artwork down on a flat surface with the tape stains exposed. Secure it firmly to avoid movement during the removal process.
- 4). Wipe the tape residue with the cotton ball using gentle sweeping motions. Use minimal pressure to prevent tears or oversaturation.
- 5). Allow the artwork to air dry once the residue is thoroughly removed. Expect slight warping or discoloration, but the solvent is less of a risk than water-based solutions.
