How to Remove Spyware Guard 2008

    • 1). Disconnect the cables of any peripheral hardware devices connected to your computer. Power off your router or unplug your computer's network cable to ensure your operating system is unable to access the Internet.

    • 2). Open the "Start" menu and select "Restart." Hit the "F8" key as the operating system reboots to load the Windows advanced options menu.

    • 3). Scroll down and highlight the "Safe Mode" menu option. Hit "Enter" and wait for your operating system to finish rebooting in safe mode.

    • 4). Access the "Start" menu and choose "Computer." Navigate to the "Program Files" folder. Right-click and delete the "Spyware Guard 2008" folder.

    • 5). Return to the "Start" menu and type "Spyware Guard" in the "Search" box. Right-click each of the files found and choose "Delete."

    • 6). Search for the Spyware Guard 2008 files named "reged.exe," "spoolsystem.exe," "sysexplorer.exe," "sys.com," "syscert.exe," "vmreg.dll" and "olesys.dll." Delete all of the files and perform a search for the word "regedit."

    • 7). Click the Windows registry editor icon in the search results area and navigate to the "HKEY_CURRENT_USER" folder. Click the "Software" folder. Right-click and delete the "Spyware Guard" sub-folder.

    • 8). Open the registry folders named "Microsoft," "Windows," "CurrentVersion" and "Run." Delete the value named "spywareguard," which is located at the right end of the window.

    • 9). Back out of the folders back to the top level of the registry editor. Navigate to the registry folder path "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall."

      Delete the folder named "Spyware Guard 2008" and close the registry editor window. Restart your computer without choosing the "Safe Mode" option. Attach the network cable back to your computer or turn on the router.
