Treating Fever in Children Holistically
Let me explain.
Babies have no immune system.
Instead they have what is called passive immunity which they get from their mothers milk.
When they are weaned, then their immune system needs to start learning the ropes to be an effective weapon against pathogens trying to invade.
This can only come about from practice.
It's not automatic.
It needs to be learnt.
And everyone knows that when we learn, we make mistakes.
Learning to ride a bicycle includes many falls in the early stages.
The immune system is no different.
So fever in children is something to be encouraged and allowed to happen naturally.
If possible, without any treatment.
If the child is allowed to go through the process of a fever, then their immune system will have learnt a great lesson.
Their health will take a jump forward.
By using any form of drugs, it's likely that the symptoms will be suppressed, so the immune system is weakened.
Even analgaesics will do this.
However, a fever should also be monitored, as it can progress into something which does need treatment.
So, apart from allowing, watch too.
And have a plan B at the ready.
The types of fever that can progress rapidly into something that does need help comes under the homeopathic medicine Belladonna's sphere of action.
As with all homeopathic medicine, you need to be able to fit the child's symptom picture into that of the healing medicine.
Belladonna's symptoms include:
- a high or rising temperature
- intense heat of the affected part or body
- dilated pupils
- a worsening for motion or jarring
- worse around mid afternoon
It's generally accepted that once the temperature reaches 40 degrees C (104 degrees F), some action is required.
To recap, if you can, allow fever in children to work itself out.
If you need to take action, the use of homeopathic medicines will not interfere with the child's immune learning, or suppress the symptoms.
