How to Remove Giardia From a Fish Pond
- 1). Remove all fish, plants and other organisms from the infected pond and destroy. This ensures the Giardia parasite will not be reintroduced after the pond water is disinfected.
- 2). Measure out 6 cups of 5 percent chlorine solution per 100 gallons of water requiring treatment
- 3). Pour chlorine solution into pond and allow to sit for at least 24 hours
- 4). Wait at least 24 to 48 hours for chlorine levels in the pond to drop to zero. After this waiting period, introduce new plants and fish into the treated pond.
