The Things You DON'T Have to Do Everyday

101 11
If the "to-do" lists you make in order to increase your productivity at work or at home haven't been really helpful so far, maybe it's time to change the strategy? In our attempt to be better at what we do, we tend to also do other things that actually can annoy those around us or slow us down. In this article you can find out what you should avoid doing if you want your days to more smoothly, especially at work.

Here is what you shouldn't do:

1. Check your phone while someone is talking to you. There is nothing I dislike more than when a colleague or a friend of mine check their phone during a conversation. Sure, if the phone rings and you have to take the call, I'd understand, but checking it for no particular reason can only mean that you are bored and some people can find it rude and unprofessional.

2. Distract yourself during meetings. You would be surprised how much you can learn from the discussed topics during meetings if you can avoid doing side things, such as drawing in your note book or daydreaming. Paying attention to what others are saying could be really beneficial for you and increase your productivity.

3. Have too many automatic notifications. Nowadays we tend to synchronize our e-mails with phones so we can get a notification when a new e-mail arrives, or a new tweet, or a new facebook post, etc. However, this is not necessary! Seriously, the world won't end if you don't see the latest tweet or check your e-mail straight away. If you have started something more important then do it. Prioritizing is essential if you want to be more productive. And this does not apply on for work commitments, but for the chores at home too. End of lease cleaning experts in Melbourne suggest to avoid disturbing yourself while cleaning, especially if you want to clean your home faster.

4. Talk behind somebody's back. This is something which you should definitely avoid doing, especially at work. If you have a problem with someone either speak with him/her directly or seek another solution, but don't go behind their backs. And if certain event doesn't concern you, then you should most certainly abstain from talking for the people involved. Instead, try to be more productive in your work and speak with your colleagues for other things. In this way you will not only grow professionally, but others will respect you as someone who doesn't go behind other people's back.
