    Membership Levels

    • SmugMug offers three levels of membership as of time of publication: Basic for $40 per year, Power for $60 per year and Pro for $150 per year. Zenfolio offers a free trial for 14 days, and then offers two plans including a Basic Plan for $25 per year, Unlimited for $50 per year, Premium for $100 per year and Premium Business for $250 per year. Flickr is free to everyone but offers an upgraded Pro account for $24.95 per year or $47.99 for two years.

    Basic Features

    • SmugMug Basic members enjoy unlimited photo uploads with a maximum file size of 24 MB with the ability to password protect their site, individual galleries and also create unlisted galleries. Zenfolio Basic membership offers 2 GB worth of storage space plus 1 GB for every year you are with the service, with a maximum file size of 24 MB. Flickr allows you to upload 300 MB worth of photos per calendar month as well as two videos under 150 MB, and shows up to 200 of your latest uploads.

    Sharing

    • SmugMug allows users to share via a variety of social networks including Twitter, Facebook and Tumblr as well as create collections and communities within the site. Zenfolio users can share photos via Facebook and Twitter and export to various other photo services, including Twitter. Flickr users can share photos on popular social networks including Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr.

    Site Customization

    • SmugMug allows Basic users to choose from a variety of different themes, while Power and Pro users can further customize their site using HTML. Zenfolio does not allow for site customization, however, it does allow Unlimited, Premium and Premium business users to use their own domain. Premium and Premium Business users can upload their own logos as well as remove Zenfolio branding from their site. Flickr does not allow for user site customization.

    Business Features

    • Both SmugMug and ZenFolio offer an array of services aimed at professional photographers. SmugMug Pro level users can set prices on individual prints and packages, sell traditional prints through a professional photo lab, sell digital prints, watermark items and get paid for their work via direct deposit. Zenfolio offers SEO tools for photographers as well as custom watermarks and professional photo fulfillment services. Flickr has several user created groups for professional photographers but does not have features specifically for professionals.
