How to Correct a Salt Water Pool's PH Level
- 1). Take a reading of your pool's pH. The easiest way to do this is to take a sample of water to your local pool supply store, though every saltwater pool owner should learn to take their own readings to maintain their pool. Ideal saltwater pH is between 7.5 and 8.5.
- 2). If your pH is too high, buy a hydrogen solution to bring it down. If your pH is too low, buy a hydroxide solution to bring it up. Both solutions are available at pool supply stores.
- 3). Apply the solution to your pool. After a couple of days, take another reading of your water. If the problem has not corrected, chances are good that you'll have to start at the beginning, with a new batch of salt water. Contact your local saltwater pool supplier for a new stock of saltwater.
