How to Layer Faux Fruit in Glass Vases
- 1). Place the clear vase on a flat surface. Place a 1 inch layer of green moss in the bottom to cushion the fruit and provide a base color. Moss can be purchased at craft stores or floral shops.
- 2). Place one pear and two plums upright in the bottom of the vase. The fruit can be angled slightly for a better fit and to give the piece some artistic flair. Place a second pear in the center of the three fruits. Add one to two cherry clusters around the pear on top of the first layer of fruit. Pinch off a 1 to 2 inch clump of moss and add on the opposite side of the cherries.
- 3). Add two more plums to the vase and one cluster of cherries. If the vase is wide enough, add an extra piece of fruit in the center of each layer to hold the outer pieces in place against the sides. If your vase is narrow, the fruit will naturally hold its position.
- 4). Continue to layer the fruit in groups of three. Add one to two cherry clusters and a clump off moss to each layer to fill in any gaps and add interest to the design. Fill the vase to the rim. Add two clumps of moss on top of the fruit and cover with a few loose cherries.
- 5). Cut a 18 inch piece of ribbon with a pair of sharp scissors. Tie a bow around the vase. The bow can be positioned at the top or center of the vase. Place the finished vase on a table or counter and arrange one pear, one plum, and a cherry in a grouping at its base.
