How to Make a Stock Car Speaker Sound Good
- 1). Verify that all of the speakers are in phase by visually checking to see if the speakers are moving in the same direction at the same time while music is playing. If the speakers are out of phase, swap the negative and positive speaker connections. You will notice a significant increase in overall output if the phase issue is corrected.
- 2). Adjust the radio's bass and treble settings to their lowest levels and slowly increase the levels, ensuring that the sound is not distorted and that the bass and treble are not overwhelming. Having the bass and treble set too high can lead to poor output from the speakers.
- 3). Ensure that any signal processing capabilities that the factory stereo has are turned on. These features can improve the overall quality of sound the stock speakers produce. Depending on the individual radio, these features may be called BBE, DSO or MediaXpander. Refer to the vehicle's owner's manual for specific instructions on how to enable these features.
