How to Repair a Sanyo LCD TV
- 1). Check the aspect ratio of your cable box receiver if black bars appear at the edges of the picture on your Sanyo LCD TV. Black bars are usually caused by the normal discrepancy between the aspect ratio setting of your TV set and that of the cable box receiver. HDTVs, including plasmas and Sanyo LCDs, are usually set to a widescreen aspect ratio of 16:9 to accommodate widescreen movies; but many TV programs are broadcast in a more square of 4:3 ratio. Press the Menu button on your cable box remote and change the format setting to 16:9. The image should now fill the screen, although if it is a standard 4:3 ratio picture, it will be slightly stretched to fit the widescreen format .
- 2). Make sure any electrical or battery-operated devices that are in use are moved away from your Sanyo LCD TV if you are experiencing picture distortion. Devices such as fluorescent light bulbs, vacuum cleaners and stereo speakers can cause image interference. Issues usually only occur if these devices are turned on and positioned near to your Sanyo LCD TV. When the device is turned off, the interference should stop.
- 3). Press the audio button on your Sanyo remote control if you are experiencing low sound. Press the Stereo option if it is not selected already. Modify sound further by pressing the Balance option and making sure the audio output is balanced between left and right speakers.
Turn up the volume on any external appliances, such as a Blu-ray player or a surround-sound system, connected to your Sanyo LCD TV. These devices have their own volume settings, which can diminish the TV's audio if they are not turned up sufficiently. - 4). Turn off your Sanyo LCD set if you can see dead pixels on the screen. Dead pixels are fixed colors that stay constant regardless of image changes on screen. Apply pressure to the affected area with a damp cloth after the TV is switched off. Download or purchase pixel software programs, which can identify and repair dead pixels, if problems persist.
