How to Make Head Jewelry
- 1). Select the beads and the pendant for your head jewelry. You do not need a pendant, but having a larger bead in the center brings attention to your design. A teardrop or oval shaped pendant works well in head jewelry, but you can choose any shape that you like. Make sure that the pendant has a flat back so it will rest better on your head. The other beads should be smaller, from 4mm to 6mm. They can have flat backs or not, whichever you prefer.
- 2). Measure the circumference of your head where you would like your jewelry to rest. Cut a length of beading wire 1 inch longer than the circumference of your head.
- 3). Thread one crimp bead onto one end of your cut wire. Thread one end of the clasp beside the crimp bead. Bend the wire 1/2 inch from the end around the clasp and through the crimp bead. Crimp the bead with your crimping pliers.
- 4). Create the design for your head jewelry by placing the pendant in the center position of your bead board. Place the crystal beads on either side of the pendant to the desired length of your head jewelry. Bead boards have grooves to hold the beads in place as you design as well as measurements to indicate the length of your jewelry.
- 5). Thread the beads and the pendant on the wire according to your design. Begin with either side of your design, just make sure that you have the same number of beads on both sides of the pendant.
- 6). Thread the crimp bead and then the other end of the clasp. Bend the wire 1/2 inch around the clasp and through the crimp bead. Press the crimp bead with your crimping pliers.
