How to Hook Up a Four-Line Phone 66-Block

    • 1). Mount the Type 89 bracket to the mounting bracket or support device with the Philips screws and screwdriver. Snap the two 66 blocks into the bracket.

    • 2). Strip 1 inch from the four phone lines entering the structure. Route it to the 66 blocks' installed location.

    • 3). Slide the twisted pairs through the first two slots in the block. Note that each slot opening corresponds to two of the paired wires, with two punchdown slots per opening. Only separate the wires in each pair enough to easily access the punchdown slots.

    • 4). Note the numbering pattern embossed in each 66 block. Press the wires firmly into each punchdown slot with the punchdown tool. Use the following pattern for the first two lines: One phone wire is punched into positions five through eight. Punch the second line into stations nine through 12. Punch down line three with stations 13 through 16.

    • 5). Repeat the process on the second 66 block for line four, using stations five through eight.
