How to Set Up a 100 Count Humidor
- 1). Pour distilled water into a small dish. Dip a clean towel into the dish so that it is thoroughly damp and wring out excess water.
- 2). Wipe down the entire interior of the humidor until the wood is damp, not saturated. Move the damp cloth across the Spanish cedar lining without allowing it to sit and saturate the wood to the point of causing damage.
- 3). Empty the distilled water from the dish. Fill the dish halfway with propylene glycol solution. Place a humidification device such as a disc in the solution to soak for one minute. Remove and dry the humidification device, then place it in the bottom of the 100 count humidor.
- 4). Place a hygrometer in the bottom of the humidor next to the humidification device and close the lid.
- 5). Check the reading on the hygrometer after 24 hours. Determine if the reading is at or near 72 percent relative humidity. If the rh is low, wipe down the interior with distilled water once again and close the humidor lid with the humidification device and hygrometer inside. Continue to monitor the rh level until it reads at or near 72 percent.
- 6). Place cigars in the 100 count humidor as desired, keeping in mind that the greater the number of cigars, the more the rh level will be affected and possibly lowered.
