How to Repair a Software Registry File
- 1). Click the Windows "Start" button. Type "regedit" into the text box on the bottom of your pop-up menu window. Press "Enter" to open your Registry Editor.
- 2). Click the File menu item and then click "Import." This opens the a dialog window where you specify the backup location. Most registry backups have a ".reg" extension. Point to your software registry backup.
- 3). Click "OK" to import and restore your registry settings for the software. Reboot the computer. Registry changes require a reboot for the fix to take effect.
