    Icons of the Computer Industry

    • Many students are motivated to seek careers based on potential earnings. Play on that motivation by creating a bulletin board of some of the icons of the computer industry. Include the founder of Microsoft, Bill Gates, the founder of Apple, Steve Jobs and the creator of Facebook, Mark Zuckerburg. Next to each name and description, include the icon's net worth and motivational statements such as, "With computer skills and an entrepreneurial spirit, you could be next!"

    Video Game Design

    • Create a bulletin board dedicated to video game design entitled, "So You Want to Design Video Games?" Include a brief description of the skills video game designers need to be successful, including proficiency with C+++ programming and Flash animation. Also include descriptions of how current high school subjects, such as geometry and physics, relate to a career in video game design.

    Computer Careers

    • Create a bulletin board with pictures and descriptions of a variety of computer careers that students can pursue. Career fields include computer engineering, software development, computer programming, medical imaging, cell phone development and graphic design. Many colleges that offer degrees in computer-related fields have a variety of brochures that relate to specific computer careers that they will provide the school to add to the bulletin board.

    Companies to Work For

    • Every year, "Fortune" magazine creates a list of the 100 best companies to work for. Create a bulletin board using that list and highlight the companies that are Internet- or computer-based to show students the wealth of opportunities available in the field. On Fortune's 2011 list of the 100 best companies to work for, three of the top five companies were software- and Internet-based.
