Baby Boomers And The Presidential Election - Boomers Will Choose Our New Leader

103 24
More than fifty percent of the voters in this year's United States presidential election will be over age fifty.
That's about fifteen percent more than the people over age 50 who voted in the 2004 national elections.
That means that the baby boomers will be choosing our next president.
People over age fifty are expected to vote in large numbers, most likely due to the serious issues that are facing us in this country.
Baby boomers are now moving into the retirement stage of their lives.
During this phase of life, people are more likely to get involved with choosing the people who will be at the helm and making decisions that will affect them on a daily basis.
With the economy in a downturn and medical care costs rising, older people are coming forth in greater numbers than ever to make political choices.
This year, states like Florida, Arizona, Nevada, Pennsylvania and West Virginia will be swing states that can have a tremendous effect on the outcome of the election.
This is due to the fact that a greater than average percentage of the population of these states is made up of people who are older than the national average.
You can be sure that the candidates will spend more than their fair share of time making appearance and running ads to ensure that people know exactly who they are and what they stand for.
Another interesting result of this age shift is that older candidates are now much more accepted than in past presidential elections.
Senator John McCain is 72 years old and could become the oldest candidate ever elected if he wins the race.
That record is currently held by Ronald Reagan, who was 69 when first elected to the presidency.
