The northern shore of San Diego Bay had been the home of Italian and Portuguese fishermen during the 20th century. These people sailed in San Diego Bay to fish for tuna and other commercial fishes. A major decline in the tuna industry occurred in the early years and this paved way to the construction of Interstate 5. Since then, the place endured depreciation for decades and the once developed and industrialized community was disrupted. However, in the early 1990s the Centre City Development Corporation has been approached by the local residents and merchants to team up with them in preserving the cultural dynamic and restoring the commerce in the neighborhood. In the year 2000, the development began and the once disrupted community has been a breeding place for everyone especially the food lovers.
