How BPD is Diagnosed
One aspect of a person that is difficult to comprehend is their personality.
Since all of us are born unique, our attitudes, traits and way of thinking are hard to fathom.
That is why, psychologists constructed their own way of examining things for them to give the right diagnosis when psychological disorders arise.
As for Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), psychologists also have their own way of conducting procedures for people who have this kind of disorder.
Once they suspect of a person having BPD, the following tests are then conducted: oWritten tests - could possibly have set of questions pertaining to basic questions about the self and other related circumstances the prospective patient experiences and how she handles them.
oVerbal tests - this is where the attending psychologist asks questions to a probableBPD patient.
-questions would most probably be about the behavior of the person like "what do you do when these kind of circumstances arise?" or "how are you feeling right now?" Also, they could just plainly ask them questions that would help the psychologist get to know the person more.
-questions about one's medical history are also asked oPhysical exams - this will be conducted by examining a person's physicality such as the way the person looks, whether he/she looks haggard, stressed, depressed, etc.
or see if her internal system has been responding well for her.
These, though seemingly basic for us, will definitely help the doctor determine whether one really has Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) or not.
