Infra-Red Radiant Heating, Good Business Sense

Is the federal government out to punish the small businessman? It sometimes appears that way. All the hype about caps on carbon pollution, higher corporate taxes and the recent economic downturn is forcing many business owners to re-think, re-tool and get downright creative in an effort to minimize profit loss. The good news is that there are steps many business owners can take to offset the effects of tough economic times.

Scott Workman of Infra-Red Products Supply, Inc. suggests one way to help businesses be more profitable is to look at expenses that are siphoning away huge sums of money from month to month. According to Mr. Workman, "these money siphons can include such items as liability insurance, employee payroll, benefit plans and monthly utilities. This last category, the monthly utilities, can be one of the biggest cash siphons a business owner faces every month, yet it gets the least amount of attention.

According to Mr. Workman, "for owners and managers of auto service garages, aircraft hangars, manufacturing plants and similar high bay structures, wasteful and costly heating systems can substantially threaten business viability. The good news is that "these types of structures can save upwards of 50% in energy usage with a well-engineered infra-red heating system compared to a conventional forced air system.

Businesses located in colder climates know that the heating bill is one of their biggest monthly expenses. So why don't they improve or replace their inefficient heating systems? Actually, many are doing just that. In fact, local government agencies and municipalities have realized the huge energy-savings of infra-red heating systems for years. Radiant tube heaters are commonplace in fire stations, ambulance buildings, waste management facilities, water treatment plants and road maintenance buildings.

In older buildings, a new infra-red system can pay itself back in as little as one to three years, just through fuel savings alone. "From then on, it's money in the bank", according to Mr. Workman. Imagine having a $3,000.00 average monthly fuel bill during the heating season and cutting that in half? In addition to fuel savings, most infra-red systems also use much less electrical power because they are not driven by big blowers to move the heat around.

According to Mr. Workman "We rarely see inefficient forced air heating systems specified by engineering and architectural firms for new facilities such as these. And even for existing structures, infra-red heating systems are being installed to replace older, inefficient ones. Retro-fitting these buildings is an excellent return on investment".

The principle of infra-red heating can also apply to residential garages. Homeowners are just as concerned about monthly heating costs, perhaps even more so. The good news is, there are several excellent infra-red heaters designed especially for residential garages and small shops ranging from $300.00 on up.

Rather than hoping for our economy to recover to become more profitable, there are proactive steps we can take now to make things better. Installing a well-designed infra-red heating system is just one surprisingly affordable and practical way to do just that. Infra-Red Products Supply, Inc. has been supplying energy saving heating systems for over 23 years. And the need for efficient systems has never been as great as it is today.
