    • 1). Cut one 15-inch square from each of the cotton fabric panels. One square is for the exterior of the bottle cover, one is for the lining.

    • 2). Fold the exterior fabric with the right sides together. Pin a 3/8-inch seam along the bottom and the side. Sew the side and bottom seams in place. Remove the pins.

    • 3). Fold the lining fabric with the right sides together. Pin a 3/8-inch seam along the bottom and the side. Sew the seams and remove the pins.

    • 4). Square the bottom of the lining fabric by pulling the sides between the stitched side seam and the opposing side in opposite directions. The bottom seam should be centered with the side seam. Place the cover flat on a work surface with the two pulled sides protruding to the left and to the right. The bottom of the liner should resemble a triangle.

    • 5). Measure and mark a line that is 3-1/2 inches from the tip of each corner down to the center seam. Stitch along the marked line. Each corner of the lining should now resemble a triangle. Measure, mark and trim the seam lines to 1/4 inch. Iron the seam along the side of the liner open.

    • 6). Square the bottom of the exterior fabric following the same process as with the liner fabric. Turn the exterior bottle cover right side out. Iron the side seam open.

    • 7). Measure and pin a 1/2-inch seam, wrong sides together, along the top edge of the lining fabric and the exterior fabric. Iron the seams flat.

    • 8). Insert the lining fabric inside the exterior bag. The lining fabric is still wrong side out. Match all of the seam lines. Pin the two sections of fabric together along the seam lines.

    • 9). Sew the seams together around the top edge. Insert the bottle inside the bag and fold the top down. The liner fabric is right-side out along the top of the bag.

Cut a length of ribbon to fit around the neck of the bottle, plus 16 inches for a tie. Stitch the center of the ribbon onto the back side of the outside of the bottle cover, beneath the top fold.
