How To Remove the Rear Window in a 1991 Corvette
- 1). Release the rear hatch by depressing the hatch button located in the center console. Lift the hatch to the fully open position.
- 2). Remove the negative battery cable from the battery with a battery terminal wrench.
- 3). Detach the Targa top roof panel with the Torx ratchet supplied with the car from Chevrolet. Loosen the four Torx bolts holding the top in place and lift the Targa top off the Corvette.
- 4). Remove the interior panel above the seats covering the hatch mounting bolts. Use a Phillips head screwdriver to remove the seven screws securing the panel.
- 5). Pry back the hydraulic struts from the mounting points on the hatch with a flat head screwdriver while an assistant holds the hatch in the open position. Disconnect the electrical connector on the passenger's side, near the front edge of the hatch.
- 6). Loosen the four hatch retaining nuts with a metric socket and ratchet. These nuts are located above the driver and passenger's seats.
- 7). Lift the hatch from the Corvette with the help of an assistant.
