Home Trends No Longer Popular For 2011

Homebuilders, interior decorators, house designers and others all want to know what the "next big thing" will be in the new year.
But, what are some of the things that won't be staying around home trend-wise in 2011? Are there certain styles and design ideas that have worn out their welcome? Of course, the answer is yes.
There are some trends from the past that certainly won't be popular as we move into 2011.
And there are many ways you can alter or adapt when deciding on your perfect dream home plans.
Wasted Space Say goodbye to the days of the oversized rooms with lots of wasted space.
Good examples of this are two-story entry halls and foyers.
Homeowners are looking for affordable, energy efficient home plan designs and floor plans, such as duplex house plans and less extravagant designs.
Homes filled with towering ceilings are not as energy efficient and homeowners want functional space rather than "trophy space" now more than ever.
All Show 2011 is the era of the practical, cash-strapped buyer, so anything overdone or considered "fancy" just won't mix.
Lavish kitchen appliances or oversized master bathtubs that are often mostly for show will not be popular choices with homebuyers in 2011.
The kitchen will once again become a fully functional place and not a showcase.
Sure, technology will be important, but homebuyers will be looking for everyday function, storage and convenience and not the luxury kitchen filled with every imaginable gadget and appliance choice out there.
All About Me While the interior of a home is important, buyers are interested more than ever about the location and curb appeal of their home.
Because of the recent economy, homeowners are spending more time at home and in their communities and they want their homes to be right in the middle of all of their activities.
Whether they like going to the park, enjoy the shops and restaurants nearby, current homeowners want to be where they enjoy spending their relaxation time and they are willing to have less of a home in order to do that.
Many are changing their dream house plans to something more comfortable and relaxing, rather than extravagant.
House Swap People will no longer make money by flipping a home.
Buyers are not buying for short-term anymore like they did in the past.
Homebuyers are looking for homes they will want to spend many years in.
So, they are pickier about the floor plans and design of a home they are interested in buying.
Sadly, the idea of a home being a short-term moneymaker is a thing of the past, so it has definitely changed the way people feel about homes in general.
