How Long Can Dakar Embassy Hold Your Fiance Visa Petition?
- You must first petition U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services to make him the beneficiary of a fiance visa with a Form I-129F. When your petition is approved, it's forwarded to the U.S. Embassy in Dakar.
- When they receive the petition, the U.S. Embassy in Dakar notifies your fiance that he must apply for a "K" visa and interview. The petition is valid for four months, during which time, your fiance must complete all the requirements. If he can't complete them in time, consular officers can extend the validity period.
- Once your fiance successfully completes his immigration interview, he can pick up his sealed visa packet at the embassy on any following Tuesday or Thursday after 3 p.m. He should not open the packet, and should present it still sealed to officials when he arrives.
