How to Hook Up a DVD Player to a Cable Box
- 1). Connect the coaxial cable to the coaxial hook up on the back of the cable box labeled "TV out". Connect the other end of the coaxial cable to the "in" coaxial cable hook up on the DVD player.
- 2). Determine which cord you need to connect the DVD player to the television. The DVD player will require either an S-video cable or an RCA patch-cord with red, white and yellow ends. These cables usually come with the DVD player but can usually be purchased at most electronics stores if they are missing. To determine which cable your TV requires, check the back of the television set. If the TV has red, white and yellow hook ups, use the RCA patch-cord. If the TV has one large round hook up, use the S-video cable.
- 3). Connect the correct cable from the DVD player to the TV. Be sure that the cable is connected to the jack labeled "in" on the TV and the jack labeled "out" on the DVD player.
- 4). Test the hook up to make sure that all cables have been configured correctly. Turn on the TV and make sure it is the correct channel for the cable box (usually this is channel 2, 3 or 4). Use the remote to access the "input" menu. The DVD will be located in different places depending on your television, but may be labeled "video1" or "svideo".
