Natural Plantar Fasciitis Pain Relief

103 10
When it comes to dealing with the common foot condition, plantar fasciitis, many want to find natural ways that they can obtain relief from this painful condition.
Plantar fasciitis is irritation, inflammation, and even small tears that occur in the plantar fascia ligament that runs the bottom length of your foot.
This is caused by excessive amounts of shock or pressure being placed on the ligament, leading to the fatigue injury occurring.
Obtaining relief is not only important for one's sanity, but it will help to heal the damage and reduce the likelihood of future problems.
Many also do not want to rely on medication or submit to invasive surgery in order to obtain relief, and thankfully, unless you are one of the rare few cases, you should not have to do this.
Some of the best natural and cost effective ways of dealing with the condition are listed below, which will help to reduce the pain associated with plantar fasciitis and the often associated heel spurs.
Icing the Foot Ice is a great anti-inflammatory and it is also wonderfully soothing on an inflamed and irritated foot.
This natural pain relief remedy provides a double duty as it will help to reduce the inflammation of the ligament while reducing the pain it causes you as well.
You can ice your foot up to four times a day, for about 15 minutes at a time to obtain maximum relief.
Massaging the Foot This is a wonderfully therapeutic way to help soothe the pain of suffering from plantar fasciitis.
When you massage the foot, the pain relief you get is as a result of the reduction in tension in your foot.
This means that you are working to loosen the ligament and surrounding muscles which will help aid the healing process whilst bringing about relief.
You can go about this a number of ways.
A simple thing you can do is take a regular old golf ball and roll it under your bare foot for about 5 minutes at a time, a few times a day.
The dips in the ball will help to hit pressure points and loosen the muscles while also reducing tension in the foot.
You can kill two birds with one stone by rolling a frozen water bottle under your foot as a way to get in your icing and massaging at the same time.
Epsom Salt Soaks Epsom salts are a great anti-inflammatory agent that can help to reduce the pain, irritation, and inflammation in your foot.
By soaking your feet, for about 20 minutes at a time, twice a day, in a warm bath with a few tablespoons of Epsom salt, you will get pain relief as well as some reduction in swelling and inflammation as well.
Whilst pain relief can be achieved without medication, and relief can be gained with exercises, massage and ice, if you still experience painful attacks in the morning, the best bet is to invest in a plantar fasciitis splint.
Whilst not a natural remedy it is highly effective.
The plantar fasciitis splint is a brace which keeps the plantar fascia stretched throughout the night, and can all but eradicate morning pain.
