How to Clear Drainage
- 1). Position the plumber's snake within two feet of the access hole for the clogged pipe. Install the auger tip on the end by pushing it on and securing it with a cotter pin.
- 2). Place the plumber's snake controls in the forward position. Put the leather gloves on your hands to protect them from the wire.
- 3). Push the end of the plumber's snake into the pipe and push the forward feed button on the machine. Use both hands to control the snake's wire as it pushes into the pipe.
- 4). Reverse the snake's direction if it becomes stuck. Move it slowly forward again to work its way through the blockage. Repeat this process until the blockage it cleared.
- 5). Remove the snake from the pipe by reversing its direction. Place a hose in the end of the pipe and turn on the water supply. Allow water to run for 10 minutes to flush out the debris.
