How to Apply Moehl Sealer to Raw Wood Floors
- 1). Empty the room of all furniture.
- 2). Cover the doorways with plastic sheeting. This will prevent dust from escaping and keep the temperature and humidity levels in the room consistent.
- 3). Sweep the floor to remove any dust and debris.
- 4). Sand the floors three times. First sand the floor in the direction of the grain with 100-grit sandpaper. Then sand down the rough sanding ridges left behind by the 100-grit sandpaper with 120-grit sandpaper. Follow that with 150-grit sandpaper. Sweep up any sawdust after each sanding.
- 5). Apply painter's tape to the wall to protect it from the sealer.
- 6). Brush on the first coat of Moehl sealer. Use a wide brush to apply the sealer to the perimeter of the room. Then use a short pile, long handle roller to apply a generous amount of sealer to the rest of the floor. Allow the sealer to dry overnight.
- 7). Sand the floor with 180-grit sandpaper. The first coat of sealer will cause the grain to swell. Sand away those light ridges.
- 8). Apply the second coat of Moehl sealer exactly the same way that you applied the first. Allow the sealer to dry overnight.
