    • 1). Put on safety glasses and leather work gloves.

    • 2). Place a Phillips screwdriver on the screws holding the vertical weather stripping assembly at the front of the 1969 Firebird's quarter window. Turn each screw counterclockwise to loosen and pull each screw straight out.

    • 3). Pull out the weather stripping and trim. Set it aside.

    • 4). Insert the tip of a utility knife into the outer rubber window gasket surrounding the window. Cut a slit in the gasket.

    • 5). Grasp either side of the slit gasket with needle-nose pliers and pull the pliers straight back, freeing some of the gasket. Place one hand in the center of the glass and hold it inward to stabilize it. Continue pulling the gasket with the pliers from the entire perimeter of the window.

    • 6). Hold the window in place and open the car door with your other hand. Press the glass outward from inside the car and catch it with the outside hand.

    • 7). Remove the inner half of the window gasket in the same manner as the outer half.

    • 8). Place a pinchweld scraper on the exterior window pinchweld. Slide the scraper back and forth around the pinchweld to remove any old gasket material.
