Sea Life Baby's Room Decor
- A sea life-inspired wall mural will become the focal point of the nursery. You can create the mural using paints in vibrant shades of turquoise, yellow, green, red and orange, or use removable wall decals as another option. Paint the wall a watery shade of blue to set the backdrop for the under-the-sea theme, and enhance the scene with tropical fish, whales, seahorses and turtles. As a simpler alternative, hang a sea life-inspired wallpaper border on a plain white wall.
- When decorating a nursery in a sea life theme, don't forget the crib bedding. Choose sheets featuring sea turtles, whales, fish, seahorses, octopuses and other ocean creatures. Soft turquoise blankets with seashell and sea life designs will keep baby warm, as well as create a cohesive look in the nursery. Hang a sea life-inspired mobile featuring bright, tropical colors on the crib.
- If you're decorating the baby nursery on a tight budget, a few themed textiles can go a long way. Vibrant topical fish-inspired rugs will give the room a whimsical look, as well as provide comfort underfoot. Choose window curtains, valances and a hamper in a fabric that coordinates with the bedding.
- Updating plain hardware with themed versions is inexpensive but can make a big decor impact in the nursery. Replace traditional drawer pulls with hand-painted, ceramic tropical fish and seahorse-shaped alternatives. Use stencils and acrylic paints to decorate plain plastic light switch covers with playful sea life designs. You can save drawer space by hanging the baby's towels and robes from dolphin- and mermaid-shaped wall hooks.
