Introduction to Meditation - Discovering the Truth About the Tool and How to Integrate it into Life

Since time and immemorial of the Great Sages and Masters of our time, we have heard countless of benefits about Meditation and its usage of reaching higher states of being, but what is it and how does it help anyone?

First, we need to know that meditation in itself is nothing more than a tool for the mind. There are a myriad of techniques and methods used to bring about spiritual transformation to live as a full conscious human being. The question is - why would anyone want to learn and bring about inner change? The answer is simple - we as humans in whatever we do, seek to find permanent happiness. This is the very cause of human suffering, because happiness can never be found on the outside and even to attempt to find happiness within carries with it the illusive seed of deception. We have been taught to believe that happiness can be achieved either from the outer world or from within.

If this were true then we would have already found the right way to reach bliss while at the same time living a "normal" life. True happiness comes from the removal of stresses trapped in the nervous system, these stresses are cause by limited beliefs about life and our place in it. The use of meditation is to still the chatter of the mind and to tame it. When one uses the right tool and given the right conditions, one can dive deep within and see the true self that shines in its glory. This true self has many names that people attempt to label and describe the experiences. As we know it, words are limited and fall short of the actually experience.

If you are able to put aside your prejudices, your conditioned thinking about meditation you will discover in the simplest understanding that meditation is the ability to move within. You have to do it to know what it is. No logic or reasoning is needed to understand what the word meditation is.
