Understanding Social Anxiety

Experts all over the world mark social anxieties, or fear of other persons, as number one among all anxieties experienced by an individual. It is a serious phenomenon, gravely affecting an individual's life and easily spreads all over the person's being but thanks to studies in hypnosis for anxiety this no longer need be a permanent way of living.

Defining Social Anxiety

Anxiety is defined in dictionaries as a state of uneasiness and apprehension or of fear. In common tongue, it may be described as over-worrying or over-thinking, often bordering to losing rational control over one's thoughts and actions. This fear of people, worry or apprehension easily finds its way into the life of an individual and manifests in various aspects of his or her daily routine, schedule and activities. Among these fears are the mundane thoughts of running out of cash, missing the bus, getting caught in the rain, etc. There are also the serious worries (those which strike very deeply into an individual's personality and circumstances), such as getting rejected, losing face, and failing. But, the most serious of them all is social anxiety.

Studies show that when one is fearful of how others would consider him/her, he/she loses confidence in his/her self. This is in terms of how to interact with them, how to present himself/herself, how to speak, walk, dress, eat, even think. Second thoughts easily sprout: one suddenly thinks that the dress she's wearing should be orange instead of pink, she should be reading instead of traveling, she should be she should be doing this instead of doing that. This doesn't amount to judging a particular activity or choice as good or bad. What it simply means is that fear of getting rejected by other people affects one's way of thinking and could inhibit his/her ability to choose and decide for himself/herself. Moreover, fear of others would keep one secluded in his/her personal shell. He/she would easily lose belief in his/her ability to accomplish things; in effect, he/she would be missing the opportunity to do better and greater things.

Experts suggest a simple solution to this problem: it's getting the mind in control. It's about being able to identify fear, worries and doubts, and being able to take the right actions to counter those. It's about putting everything in perspective, that everything can go right and that if anything goes wrong, it's fine, it can still be corrected. This kind of convincing can be done through hypnosis, and this hypnosis for anxiety can be done by the individual on his or her own, or with the help of health professionals and experts.
