How to Clean Director Chair Seats
- 1). Use a screwdriver to remove the screws holding the director chair's seat together. Carefully remove the screws, and set them aside.
- 2). Slide the fabric seat from the chair frame. If the director chair has fasteners or hooks holding the fabric in place, pry them off with a flathead screwdriver. Keep the hooks or fasteners because you will need to reinstall the seat covers. If a padding is present under the seat cover, place it to the side or replace it with new foam padding (available at a fabric store or retail superstore).
- 3). Place the fabric seat in your washing machine, and fill the machine with cold water.
- 4). Add 1 cup of laundry detergent, and set the machine on a short wash cycle.
- 5). Add fabric softener during the "rinse" cycle.
- 6). Dry the director chair fabric seat on a clothesline, drying rack or on a flat surface.
- 7). Spray the fabric seat with a Scotchgard spray to help protect the fabric and make future cleanings easier.
- 8). Reassemble the director chair (the reverse of Steps 1 and 2).
