Your Immune System: Ways To Improve Your Immune System Today

Unless you live under a rock, you know that there is fast food and low-nutritional food options everywhere today.  If you avoid these types of places, kudos to you, you're doing it right.  But if you're one of many who frequently consume these "foods", you may want to take a closer look at what you're feeding your body – especially if you haven't been feeling well lately.  Take heart, however – when treated right, your immune system will take care of you if you take care of your immune system.

You see, fast, processed food often lacks the essential vitamins and minerals our bodies need to stay healthy.  You'll find these types of vitamins and minerals in fruits and vegetables, nuts, dairy, and lean meats.  When you consume these various types of foods, you feel better.  And feeling better is really your immune system's way of saying thank you.

Specifically, vitamins and minerals contain antioxidants, which your body uses to fight off free radicals. Free radicals are roaming cells that cause harm to your bodily functions, including your immune system. The three strongest sources of antioxidants are found in fruits and veggies that contain carotene, vitamin C, and vitamin E.

Of the three aforementioned antioxidants, vitamin C is the most widely associated with improving the immune system. You're most likely to find vitamin C in oranges, mangoes, tomatoes, berries, colored bell peppers (green, red, yellow and orange). A good rule of thumb is the more colorful the fruit or vegetable, the more antioxidants your immune system takes in.  Vitamin C is so powerful, it's even sold in grocery stores as powder packets to add to a glass of water or orange juice.  As I said before, your immune system cannot get enough vitamin C.

If you're looking for vitamin E to help boost your immune system, you'll find it in leafy greens, spinach, broccoli, carrots and red peppers.

Lastly, Carotene comes in many variations such as beta-carotene and other types of carotenoids.  For a quick boost of carotene into your immune system, look for foods such as watermelon, apricots, beets, carrots broccoli.

Lastly, one of the best ways to improve your immune system is by taking a daily liquid supplement that is designed to help support and improve your immune system.  Coupled with a diet rich in vitamins and minerals, a good sleep schedule and regular exercise, you can rest assured your immune system will be in top shape and working full time to protect you from illness.
