Permits and licenses will vary from state to state, but can include permits to manufacture or prepare products on private property.

- 4). Purchase the equipment necessary to make your business operate. If you are producing a product, you need proper equipment to create a competitive product for the industry and market. If you are producing a service, such as web design or online marketing, you need a computer, scanner and printer.
- 5). Compare your product or service to your local competitors. You need to make your business stand out and in order to find a successful method, you need to analyze the methods and prices of your immediate competitors.
- 6). Market your business to make your name known in your local community. This can include hanging posters at your local grocery store, leaving brochures on front doors and passing out business cards. Create a website so people can get in contact with you, regardless of their location.
