The Funk 43 is a fun, easy, and tasty rum shooter that will be a hit at your next party. The recipe is one of the newer creations from 901 Very Good Cocktails author, Stew Ellington, and it one of those shots that you will actually enjoy.

The mix is easy and a perfect introduction to three fantastic, though lesser-known, spirits. Old Monk is a 7 year old dark rum from India with a delicious vanilla-caramel flavor that is great for mixing and enjoying straight. Firelit hails from Napa, California and is produced from Ethiopian coffee that gives the liqueur a deep chocolate, nutty notes. The vanilla-herb liqueur, Licor 43 is a little more common and all of these would make great additions to any bar.
