How Important Are the Words?
The words tend to be a block for so many people when starting EFT.
Because I am a word person myself, it is almost mind boggling that the words cause so much distress for so many people.
The words are simply a way of focusing your energy.
They can help us to align our thoughts, body, and feelings so that tapping can be efficient.
I find that when I am in a situation where I am fully aware of the negative energy, such as when I am angry, scared, or resentful, I don't need any words at all in order to get the benefit from tapping.
The words are most useful to me when I am trying to sort out a complicated issue in which I have somehow blocked awareness or when I am trying to avoid focusing on something because it is too uncomfortable.
Most of us have become quite adept at closing down our feelings.
We do it so quickly that the real or actual feeling never makes it into consciousness.
My subconscious mind is trying to do its job and protect me.
Sometimes it does it so well that I can't focus long enough on the real issue to get through even one round of tapping.
The reminder phrase or story telling techniques help us to remain focused on the issue at hand so that our minds don't wander off into irrelevant playgrounds.
The words used in the set up portion of an EFT tapping round work in much the same way.
In addition to the purpose of helping us focus, those set up words also help us to reduce psychological reversal.
Many people feel awkward at first using words like "I deeply and completely love myself" or "I accept myself.
" Energetically, that is a big part of the problem.
So, in the beginning, it is perfectly okay if you don't completely mean it.
As you become your own EFT Expert, you will find words and phrases that seem to melt your resistance like hot fudge on cold ice cream.
Did you notice how those words focused your attention on dessert? That is the way the words work in EFT.
They bring things into focus.
So, don't sweat it.
Start tapping on the spots whenever negative emotion strikes.
If your mind wanders, pick a phrase that helps you to focus.
Enjoy the success.
