VeloPark- Meeting the needs of the community
The VeloPark will include a 6,000-seat velodrome to host the cycling events as well as a BMX circuit.
The VeloPark designs have been developed following consultation with British Cycling and local cycling groups.
After the games, a road cycle circuit and mountain bike course will be added, so the park can be used by everyone.
The VeloPark will be a world-class cycling facility, meeting the recreational, training and competition needs of cyclists, and supporting the continued development of competitive and non-competitive cycling across the UK.
The VeloPark will have the capacity to host the full range of cycling events, including a World Championships. The British Cycling Federation will use the Velodrome to train athletes with international potential, although its main high performance centre will continue to be Manchester. The facility will be available for hire by schools, clubs, and community groups as well as available for casual pay and play usage.
After the games, the park will be linked into cycle routes across London, connecting the whole of the city with the new facilities. The BMX track will remain, but be reconfigured, and a road cycle circuit and mountain bike courses will be added.
