They Don"t Know Any Better
These young entrepreneurs grew up in the age of computers.
Most of them have had e-mail since grade school, and they've lived their entire life online.
This is the generation of cell phones, iPod's, MP3 music and text messaging.
They understand the technology, have mastered it, and are now enjoying the fruits of their labors.
Aging baby boomers on the other hand tend to take things a little slower.
We tend to think in a linear fashion going right down the line - not outside of the box like some of these younger people do.
You go to school and get a job, work you entire career doing the same thing, and then retire through with enough money in the bank to live comfortably.
End of story.
Unfortunately, for some boomers it hasn't quite worked out that way.
The problem is that many of us are faced with a retirement account that isn't all that healthy.
The recession certainly hasn't helped the matter either.
So we muddle along hoping for the best but expecting the worst.
We're afraid-terrified actually-of outliving our retirement savings and having to struggle just to survive.
It's not a very pleasant picture.
The good news is that the answer is right in front of our face, and we as a generation are capable of taking advantage of it as much anybody else is.
This Internet is right there for us and if it can make millionaires out of 20-somethings, then it can also make millionaires out of 60-somethings, or 70- or even 80- somethings.
There really is no limit to what can be accomplished online if you simply have the drive and determination to make it happen.
The baby boomer generation is facing some tough choices these days.
Our options seem to be decreasing right along with our retirement accounts.
What it takes is a firm commitment to oneself and perhaps to one's spouse to not live out the golden years in a state of need or want.
Simply by stepping up and making a commitment to claim what is rightfully ours as a generation, we can completely reinvent our careers, regardless of our age.
It's our right to enjoy a fruitful, productive, comfortable and abundant retirement.
But we're the only ones who can do it for ourselves.
