How to Make Herb Wands
- 1). Make a bouquet with your lavender stems and tie them securely in the middle with a length of ribbon. Use the longest stems you can find. Tie the ribbon so there is one short end and one long end. Strip all leaves from the stems so the bouquet is smooth.
- 2). Turn the bouquet upside down. Bend the lavender stems down into the bouquet, taking care not to shred or break the stems. Tuck the short end of the ribbon into the bouquet and weave the long piece of ribbon through the bent stems, going either over or under the stems and tightening it as you go. Weave the ribbon up through about 1/3 of the wand length.
- 3). Use a crisscross motion with the remaining ribbon to complete the wand. Push lavender buds that pop out while weaving back in with a toothpick. Tie a large bow to the bottom of the woven section or the bottom of the crisscross section. Trim any loose pieces and place a sprig of dried lavender in the wand if desired. Allow the wand to dry in a cool, dark place for three or four days.
