How to Recycle Aluminum in Reading, Pennsylvania

    • 1). Rinse all food and liquids out of the aluminum cans. This speeds up the recycling process; food residue can damage recycling machines.

    • 2). Call the West Reading Borough curbside program if you're a resident of Reading or West Reading at (610) 374-8273 to set up curbside pickup. They'll provide you with a recycling bin if you don't already have one. Rinse all food residue out of aluminum cans and put them in the bin, then put it out on the curb Tuesday night. WRBCP will pick up the recycling every Wednesday.

    • 3). Drop off other aluminum items, including appliances, at Laurel Street Recycling Inc. on Laurel Street between Minor Street and Strong Alley. Their hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m., and Saturday 7:30 a.m. to 11:45 p.m. Call them at (610) 376-2997 to ask about fees, as they charge for recycling appliance such as ovens and refrigerators.
