- Daybeds resemble sofas. The frame is along the back and on the sides, similar to the back and arms of a sofa. A daybed bedspread is created to have a flat top and three sides that hang over the mattress set. A daybed bedspread's size is 84x117. A 60x78 bedspread will not adjust to a daybed.
- Never use bedding larger than the crib on a baby bed. Standards have changed over the years and continue to move toward solving safety concerns. All comforters, bedspreads and such are always to be removed whenever the baby is in the crib. They are especially hazardous for small children, who could smother from getting tangled in the covers. It would not be safe, then, to ever use a 60x78 bedspread on a baby crib.
- A mattress for a full-size bed is 54x75 inches. A bedspread that is 60x78 inches will barely cover the top of the bed. Two inches or less will hang over each side of the bed. Instead of using the bedspread as a top covering, consider using it as a blanket or quilt beneath a different bedding topper. A blanket or quilt certainly needs to be shorter than the top bedspread to allow it to drape properly.
