Alien Contact - The 1970s
One of the most compelling, yet controversial cases of alien contact and abduction took place on November 5th, 1975, in northeastern Arizona's Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest.
Travis Walton and six other crew members were clearing forest for a government contract. As they left work that day, they all saw a glowing, flattened disc not far from the road. Walton, intrigued by the sight, left their pick up truck, and proceeded near the flying object.
Soon, he was struck by a beam.
The other crewmen, frightened by the sight, sped away momentarily, but thinking again, they returned to help young Travis. The craft and Walton were both gone.
Reporting their strange story to the authorities, a manhunt soon began. Walton, shaken and several pounds lighter, was found on a road in a small town five days later.

The year following, there would be three more cases of note. First, we have the encounter and abduction of three women from Kentucky. On January 6, 1976, Mona Stafford, Louise Smith, and Elaine Thomas, friends from Stanford, Kentucky, were returning home from dinner, when they saw a giant UFO on the highway.
A red, glowing object took control of their vehicle, hanging over the driver's side, and shooting a beam into the car. All three had burns on their faces. The last thing they remember was their vehicle being backed into a pasture.
About 1 1/2 hours later, they found themselves back in their vehicle, driving down the road home.They would later discover they had lost time, been taken into the UFO, and subjected to medical testing.

Two Alien Pilots
Another phenomenal event occurred on the night of June 22, 1976, on the Spanish Canary Islands. First, there were reports of strange lights in the sky, then reports of a special phenomenon, a strange, glowing sphere with two alien beings at the controls.
The case was revived in 1994, when files of the investigation were released as part of the unveiling of Spanish records, a type of "Freedom of Information" act. The case is considered a "one of a kind." See all of the facts at The Canary Island Alien Sphere.
Four Abductees
Another 1976 case involved four men fishing on the Allagash Waterway. Twin brothers Jack and Jim Weiner, along with their friends Chuck Rak and Charlie Foltz, would encounter a large, glowing object over the water. They would have missing time, and eventually find that they were abducted by aliens.

Aliens Visit Military Installations
In November, 1977, Alsworth AFB in South Dakota would have its own close encounter. From information obtained from the Freedom of Information Act, we discover that an alarm was activated, and two soldiers were sent to check out a fence line.
A bright light was observed, and one of the two men left their vehicle to check it out. He was shocked to see an individual dressed in a green, glowing, metallic uniform. The soldier ordered the intruder to halt, but his order was disregarded.
Finally, the soldier aimed his rifle at the strange being. His threat was countered by his rifle being hit by a beam of light. It disintegrated his rifle, and burned the soldier's hands. He called back to the vehicle. The second soldier called for help, and came to carry the injured soldier to their vehicle.
The second soldier now went to guard the fence line. He encountered two beings, aimed his rifle, and hit both of them. They fell to the ground. Soon, however, they were up and moving. The soldier followed them and saw them enter a saucer-shaped UFO.
A green glowing object rose vertically and sped away. The first soldier was treated for burns. An investigation followed, but no trace of his rifle could be found.
A second, almost unbelievable event at a US military installation occurred in January, 1978, in New Jersey. UFOs were spotted over Fort Dix, and McGuire AFB. New Jersey State Police requested entry to the back gate of McGuire to continue their search for something.
That something was a low-flying UFO that had flown over a Ft. Dix MP's vehicle. A small being of some kind had appeared near the vehicle, and then disappeared. The MP had shot the alien, who jumped the fence, before dying on a runway.
