Installing Guide for Above Ground Pools

104 15

    Ground Preparation

    • Make sure the spot where you will set up the pool is completely level. A variation of ½ inch from side to side means the pool will be slanted ½ inch when it is filled. If the slant becomes too great, the water will flow over the top on the low side and the pool will collapse. Clean up sticks, stones and ground debris to prevent items from puncturing the pool bottom. Consider putting down a tarp to set the pool on.

    Liner Setup

    • Unfold the liner and spread it out over the prepared area. Aim the drain in a suitable direction so things like your basement are not flooded when you drain the pool. Face the pump filter hose connection ports toward the electrical outlet you will use. Smooth out the bottom, working to eliminate all wrinkles and bubbles. When you are finished the sides should be laying in a loose bundle all around the edge of the pool floor. Make the floor smooth because once the water goes in any wrinkles will be locked in place.

    Top Ring

    • You need to inflate the top ring so flip it out all around so it is outside the pool wall line and facing up. Use a foot or hand pump to inflate the ring since air compressors and other powered pumps could easily over inflate it and do damage. The temperature affects the air pressure in the ring. On a hot day the air in the ring expands and if you inflate it too full to begin with it could burst. Inflate the ring until it is firm and then check it later in the day. If it is wrinkle-free and very hard release some of the air. You need to check the ring periodically as the summer progresses and the temperatures fluctuate.

    Filter Pump

    • Set the pump on a level, solid surface like a flat stone or some patio pavers. Connect one hose to the lowest port on the pool and its other end to the inlet on the pump. The other hose connects to the pump's outlet and the upper port on the pool. If you got the optional strainer you will connect that to the lower port on the inside of the pool and then hang it on the top ring. If you did not get a filter pump with your pool then make sure to plug the two ports with the plugs included with the pool.

    Filling

    • Double check that all the wrinkles are out of the pool bottom, lay a hose inside and turn on the water. Fill to the bottom of the top ring. Once the pool is full check the PH with a test kit and adjust it with PH up if it is low, or PH down if it is high. Add chlorination tablets to the chlorinator and drop it in the pool setting it to half open. Adjust this after a day when you test for available chlorine.
