How to Get Black Ink Out of Fabric
- 1). Soak a lint-free cloth with dry cleaning solvent. Use a white cloth, so no dye from the cloth transfers to the fabric.
- 2). Blot the solvent onto the ink stain until the stain is completely coated in solvent. Let it sit for three to five minutes.
- 3). Combine 1 tsp. bleach-free detergent with 1 cup warm water. Blot the solvent from the fabric with a clean cloth, using the detergent mixture.
- 4). Wash clothing and other washable fabrics, using the washing machine cycle recommended on the fabric label. Rinse upholstery with clear water and blot dry.
- 5). Inspect the fabric for remaining stains before placing it in a heat dryer. If any stains are still visible, treat a second time with the solvent and detergent before drying. The heat from the dryer otherwise sets the stain permanently in the fabric.
