How to Build a Computer Using a Barebones Kit
Instructions
1Plan your budget for the computer kit you want to buy.
2
Make a list of the new components you require for your computer. Classify them into essential and non-essential items. Buy the items in that order. You can slash some of the non-essential items in case the cost exceeds your budget.
3
Build an assembly of the hardware according to the instruction manuals provided with the components. Hardware accessories usually come with a detailed instruction booklet that shows how the parts can be assembled into the system. In most cases, the manuals have good sketches with numbered parts and instructions in sequential order.
4
Pay attention to computer's key components, such as hard drive, processor and the RAM. All of these fit on the motherboard. A computer case, otherwise known as the CPU, encloses it.
5
Confirm that you have the right tools. At the very least, you will need to have screwdrivers, tweezers and a flashlight. Refer to the instruction manual and assemble all necessary tools.
6
Ensure uninterrupted power supply (UPS) to your computer.
7
Install the processor, hard drive and RAM on the motherboard. Make sure you configure the hard drive.
8
Set up and configure the CD-ROM and Floppy Drive.
9
Install the BIOS (Basic Input/Output System) and test it.
10
Fix the operating system Windows. Install it through the hard drive and not a CD drive. Remember, hard drives work faster than CD drives.
