How To Test A Battery Using A Digital Multimeter

Instructions
1. Turn on the digital multimeter, you can place the black probe plug into the COM port and the other one (red probe) plug into the V port.
2. Turn on the digital multimeter, dial it to DC voltage position. If the DC voltage position has V, you can dash the line over the top.
3. Pay attention to place the right leads, the black probe should lead on the negative side of the battery and the red probe lead on the positive side. 9 volt battery is a special, as its positive and the negative connectons are both on the top.
4. Now, you can read the reading of the voltage on the digital multimeter. Typically the values for batteries are as follow:
AA(AAA)=1.5v
C=1.5V
D=1.5V
9V=9V
If the batteries are new, their values will higher than these values. In fact, the voltage is good when over 1.5V or 9V. Rechargeable batteries rated lower than alkaline batteries.
