Tips to a Safe Summer Vacation While on the Road

105 10
Summer is one of the best times to take a trip and bond with the whole family. But before you pack your bags and go travelling around the city, the country, or the world, brush up on these safety reminders to make your vacation more fun and worry-free.

If you will travel on the road, long drives can take their toll on you and make your family prone to untoward incidents. You can lessen the stress and keep your loved ones safe by doing the following:

* Plan your travel well. Passing through high volume channels will undoubtedly add stress to your journey. Be prepared to encounter unexpected delays such as road works along the way. Obstacles like these are obviously difficult to predict so get information from people living in your travel destination.
* Map out your pit stops. Whether it is just for a little stretching, a quick trip to the comfort room, or a light snack, a short break every two hours will help you avoid tiredness and loss of concentration.
* Set up an on-board entertainment. If you have young children, have children's music or audio books on hand. Movies are also great if your car is equipped with an entertainment system.

Once you start the car, there are even more safety tips to remember. The most important of these is buckling up. Find out more by doing these tips:

1. To have control of the car, a driver must sit in the correct comfortable position in relation to his size.
2. Switch lanes gradually. Sudden swerving may cause you to skid.
3. Grip the wheel firmly, not tightly.
4. Never drive off without making sure that the seat, mirror, doors, and windows are properly adjusted.
5. Buckle up before you get the car moving.
6. Ensure you have your driver's license, car registration and insurance papers.
7. Anticipate stops and apply progressive, light braking to keep control of the vehicle at all times.
8. Always observe road signs.
9. Do not speed up when being passed. Continue at the same speed or slow down. Move to the right side of your lane to give the other driver more room and a better view ahead.
