If your sitting room is set up as a traditional living room but not often used, select other ideas to make better use of the space. Many sitting rooms are conveniently located on the first floor of a home, central to the front door, with windows and standard square space. Think of activities you like to do at home when choosing ideas for your sitting room. Putting the sitting room to good, stylish and practical use will increase the appeal and functionality of the room. - Using the sitting room as an old-fashioned library will give the room a cozy feel. If you have a large collection of books, love to read and desire a quiet area to do so, choose a library sitting room. Line the room with bookcases from floor to ceiling, and fill it with books of various sizes, shapes and genres.
