How To Make A Glitter Cell Phone Case

106 10

Refashion your old cell phone case to an eye-catching fun glitter one. Follow these easy steps to update your bland cell phone case within an hour to something that sparkles by painting glitter onto your old case.

What You Will Need:
  • Plastic cell phone case
  • 1 small package of fine glitter
  • Mod podge
  • Paint brush or foam brush
  • Mixing bowl

How To Make A Glitter Cell Phone Case:
  1. Clean off the cell phone case with soap and water to remove any existing dirt or dust.

  1. Find a small mixing bowl and pour a small amount of mod podge into the base of the bowl. You will want to pour enough mod podge that you will have enough to paint 2 coats onto your cell phone case.
  2. Pour in your choice of glitter color and mix the glitter into the mod podge and mix the mod podge and glue together. When picking which glitter to use your cell phone case look for a fine glitter as it will give a smoother feel then larger glitter pieces.
  3. The mod podge mixture should be very dense with glitter but not so much so that when it mixes it is lumpy or hard to stir.
  4. A good way to judge if there is enough glitter is typically the mod podge will appear the color of the glitter, for example if you are using green glitter the mod podge will no longer look white but it will be green.
  5. Paint a layer of mod podge glitter mixture onto the cell phone case using a paint brush or foam paint brush. Allow the coat of glitter to dry, and paint another coat of mod modge and glitter.
  6. Flip the cell phone case over and paint two coats of glitter on the front of the cell phone case, and allow the glitter to dry.

  1. Tap the phone or lightly shake it to remove any loose glitter. If needed touch up any areas where too much glitter falls off.
  2. For extra durability especially if using larger pieces of glitter paint one layer of just mod podge on the front and back of the cell phone case.

Tips:
  • In place of glitter you can also use cut up pieces of tinsel. If you use tinsel pieces use a small amount of tinsel in the mod podge. The underneath color of the case will then show through, so if you wish paint the cell phone case first with acrylic paint then use the tinsel and mod podge mixture on top. For example black paint then a layer of mod podge with gold tinsel.
  • Have extra glitter mod podge left over? Use the mix to paint your cell phone charger to match.
